His Jewel is the Sword, by which he symbolically refuses entrance to anyone who is uninitiated in the Craft. The sword has no scabbard, as it is his symbolic duty to always have his sword drawn, ready for the defense of his post.

The Tiler's duties and principle role is to ensure that only those who are duly qualified are allowed to enter the Lodge Room. He guards against cowans and eavesdroppers. After the lodge members are inside the Lodge Room, the door closes and it is the Tiler's duty to decide whether late arrivals may enter. It is also his duty to make sure that each visitor is "properly clothed", which means they must be wearing their Masonic apron.

"A Trustee of a lodge is a statutory, not a Masonic officer." However, a Trustee
has a great responsibility to his lodge and its members.  The duty of the Trustees of lodges
to exercise a general supervision over the property, both real and personal.

Junior Deacon--Tim Cainer

VISION

The Junior Deacon's jewel of office is the square and compass, like his senior counterpart. The difference is that the Junior Deacon's jewel has a moon in the center, signifying that he is in the west.

The Junior Deacon sits to the right of the Senior Warden, guarding the door to the lodge. He is the messenger of the Senior Warden, as well as the lodge "doorman." It is his job to be certain the Tyler is guarding the door on the outside, and he allows visitors to enter, after they've been properly vouched for. He and the Tyler communicate with each other by knocking back and forth on either side of the closed door.

VALUES

Senior Warden--AARON GOULD:

To create a community of members marked by the steadfast belief that life is made better by helping others.

It’s amazing what we can do when we

work  together.

His Jewel is the Crossed Quill Pens. The Secretary is the Lodge's Recorder.
The Secretary's Lodge Officer Duties require a high degree of lodge experience, Masonic knowledge, diplomacy and, above all, detailed paperwork skills. The Lodge Secretary is the backbone of any Masonic Lodge and he holds a position of great

responsibility. He sits to the left of the Master.

Although being the treasurer for Cataract Lodge was not in my original plan as a Mason, I realized my lodge had a need for my business experience to keep a Just and Accurate record of our accounts, and bring them up to date. The lodge is facing tough financial times like most organizations are, but I am confident that the brothers will find a way to persevere.

Tiler--

To promote a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences.

Medina

The Senior Deacon's jewel is a square and compass, with a sun in the middle. The sun signifies that his position is in the east, with the Master.

The Senior Deacon sits to the right of the Worshipful Master. He is the Master's messenger and does lots of walking. He welcomes and escorts both visitors and new candidates into the lodge and usually introduces distinguished visitors. During degree rituals, he is the guide for the new candidate, conducting him around the lodge room. In the opening and closing ceremonies of the lodge, the Senior Deacon opens and closes the Bible, and lights or extinguishes the candles at the altar.

They help to set up the lodge room. Their primary duty is to prepare the candidates prior to each of the three degree rituals, and escort them to the lodge room, where the Senior Deacon takes over.
They also maintain order during special circumstances at the discretion of the Worshipful Master. The interest and value of a man’s whole Masonic career may be contingent upon the gracious consideration and solemn treatment accorded him as a candidate in the Preparation Room; hence the Masters of Ceremony are entrusted with a most delicate responsibility.

His Jewel is the Crossed Batons. The Marshal is the Lodge's Conductor or Director of Ceremonies.

The Marshal's duties and principle role is the organization of processions and ensuring the correct precedence and etiquette in formal proceedings. It is his duty to formally conduct visitors into the lodge and introduce them to the members when the lodge is in session.

Secretary--Hans rosentreter

senior master of ceremony--

His Jewel of office is an opened book, symbolizing the Volume of Sacred Law.

He sits to the left of the Master.
The Chaplain is the spiritual leader of the Lodge.  While he may or may not be a real-world Minister, Priest, Rabbi or Imam,... in the lodge, the Chaplain is responsible for non-denominational prayers at both the opening and closing of meetings, during degree ritual ceremonies and before meals.   Most Chaplains have no religious training and prayers are non-denominational.

Cataract Lodge was chartered June 11, 1853 by Grand Master Rubin Walworth. It was to meet in the Village of Middleport, Town of Royalton, Niagara County, New York. The petition of the Middleport brethren to the Grand Lodge was recommended by Hartland Lodge number 218 of Johnson Creek.

The Lodge had 17 charter members. Brother Charles Craig, a local merchant, was named Charter Master; brother Avery S Delano, a Miller, was named Senior Warden; brother William S Fenn, another merchant, was made Junior Warden. and Brother Milton Seaman, an attorney, was secretary as indicated by the 1853 Grand Lodge records. Apparently, 17 brethren were enough to get the Lodge going.

The Junior Warden's jewel of office is the plumb, a stonemason's instrument used for checking the alignment of a vertical surface. It symbolizes upright behavior among Masons.

The Junior Warden sits in the south, symbolic of the position of the sun at midday. Because he represents the sun at lunchtime, he metaphorically supervises the Craftsmen when they're at recess, or refreshment. He is the number-three officer in the lodge hierarchy, and he also may open the lodge, if the Master is unable to attend the meeting.

No matter what else we're doing, we hold steadfast to four values that define who we are:
Brotherly Love, Relief
Truth, and Charity.

LODGE#295

Hoping to bring a new attitude and more excitement to Cataract Lodge as well as a renewed commitment to all our Masonic Values. We are off to a good start with our  officer line up and new website.

The Senior Warden's jewel of office is the level, a stonemason's instrument used to check the level of horizontal surfaces. It symbolizes that all Masons meet on the level, without regard to social, political, or religious status.

The Senior Warden sits in the west, symbolic of the setting sun, and assists the Worshipful Master in opening and closing the lodge. He is the second in command, like the vice president, and if the Master is unable to attend the meeting, he may open and conduct business. His ancient duties were to pay the Craft their wages and to handle disputes among the workers.
